Friendly competition is healthy, right? June 4, 2013 marked the kick-off of the ‘Who Can Walk the Walk’ wellness challenge. Employees from Regina based real estate company Harvard Developments Inc. and local law firm MLT will track their steps with pedometers over a two week period. Battling to see which organization can out walk the other. Don Wilson, Managing Partner, MLT comments, “Our firm is always thrilled to engage in friendly competition with Harvard, the challenge is a great jumping off point for those seeking to start a new fitness routine.” To date, 137 employees based out of Regina, Calgary and Edmonton have registered for the challenge. “Promoting work-life balance is a priority for Harvard, Mo Bundon, Senior Vice President and COO, Harvard Developments Inc. comments, “Promoting fitness in the workplace helps individuals find that balance, this challenge presents ample opportunity for employees to spend time with colleagues, friends and family while engaging in physical activity.”
In addition to promoting healthy lifestyles and work- life balance, the challenge will pay it forward outside of the office. An agreement has been made that the company who loses the challenge will donate $1000 to Dress for Success. This non-profit organization provides professional attire and a network of support and career development tools to promote the economic independence of women.
