The Hill Companies’ Chairman, President and CEO Paul Hill, along with his wife Carol, have been named the 2014 Citizens of the Year by CTV Regina.

Each year, CTV accepts nominations for the Regina Citizen of the Year Award, and presents the award to a winner who exemplifies excellence in community service. The award was announced December 31 on CTV's News At Six by David Fisher, Vice President and General Manager of CTV Saskatchewan.

  “Over the decades, the service of Paul and Carol has improved life for many individuals across the region,” said Fisher. “They have worked tirelessly to improve the quality of education in our city, and they have been positive change-makers in support of disadvantaged youth.”

The extensive community service and contribution of the Hill family have benefitted many city organizations and institutions, including One Life Makes a Difference Charitable Foundation, Athol Murray College of Notre Dame, Campion College, the United Way, and the Paul J. Hill School of Business at the University of Regina. Paul and Carol were also instrumental in the creation of the Mother Teresa Middle School in Regina which provides enhanced support and education to vulnerable, inner-city youth. The school celebrated its first graduating class in 2014 and has achieved significant results and growth since its inception in 2011.

When asked what it means to win this award, Paul stated that the recognition spreads far past himself and Carol. "Carol and I are truly honoured with the recognition of CTV citizens of the year", said Paul. "The credit totally goes to those who have committed to themselves to assisting both the under privileged and those in need to empower them to realise their potential and their dreams. This includes not only the people that work with us in our organization, but all of those that are on the front line in the various educational institutions."
